General Communiqué - May 2008
From the office of The President; General Communiqué - May 2008
Many thanks to everyone that came along to Chats Palace and helped make it another great night at the LCPS. It was not, it has to be acknowledged an easy event to organise, and for a time we were seriously considering the future of the LCPS; more to the point, if it had a future.
Having done the sums and taken time to reflect, we did actually sell more tickets for this year's Detention than for last year's. Considering that Hades and Rub were on the same night, I don't think we can complain too much. (And lots of people bought in advance, which is always very much appreciated).
The problem was simply a lack of staff - and that's not just teaching staff, pupils need to be part of the organisation as well - and everyone that couldn't make it had a perfectly good reason for being somewhere else, the problem was that was lots of people.
In the future more school, less music; we're not likely to have a band and a disco another time. The induction class - a spontaneous idea on Zak's part - worked very well, and is likely to be the first class at the next one. Notwithstanding the above, I really did enjoy the band, and a very big thank you to them: Detention was their first gig, and excellent, I thought.
The Boat takes place on Saturday 5th July and costs £25 per ticket. This is one of the very best SM/Fetish parties of the year; a boat full of delightful deviants cruising the River Thames, right through the kinkiest city in the world: London is beautiful from the river - The lights, the London Eye, St Pauls, Westminster, HMS Belfast, City Hall, Tower Bridge - what better place to enact your very favourite fantasies? The Boat is a night never forgotten. This is a very special night; be sure not to miss it.
OK, we realise that having moved to a Saturday, we may now clash with a few other things, but consider this; many of those other things will still be going on next month and the month after, The Boat is once a year only, so just for once, you might consider changing your plans in favour of doing something a little different (unless you have some sort of neurosis about doing the same thing all the time).
Also; when we offer cheaper tickets in advance for The Boat, we don't mean ‘Turn up at 5pm at Paradiso on the day' we mean buy them in advance - so that we can pay for the boat. If we don't have that money well in advance, no boat; it's that simple.
The next Phoenix school will be at the Purple Turtle in Camden on Saturday 14th June.
The NOTW recently they outed our friend Miss Saffy, a school teacher, who was working as a pro-domme in her spare time; result - twenty kids lose their teacher. The subtext to all this is that as SMers we are so depraved that we can't tell good from bad nor right from wrong, it is as nasty as saying that all Gay men molest little boys, or that all Moslems are terrorists. If this shit continues to go unchallenged, it will continue to be believed. Do you want people to believe it of you? For want of better ideas, you could consider the NOTW our enemy.
The second London Dr Who Walk will take place on Saturday 31st May, starting from the front of St Pauls Cathedral at 2pm. Unlike the first one this is not for free; it's £7 for adults, £3 concessions.
At the start of this month, I finally moved out of 23 Thorpe Road, the venue for many kinky parties over my 15 ½ year residence; Chris and Josie have also recently left Stamford Hill, home to the largest Chassidic community outside Israel. An era has ended. Ginny and I have moved into our New Riverside apartment, and we would like to offer our warmest thanks to Guy, Hazel, both Steves, and especially Alan, for their stalwart support in helping us into our new home.
Sorry, no funny bit at the end of this one:
RUPERT MURDOCH IS THE ENEMY OF ALL SMers.
