Renowned Fetish and Body Art photographer and Charles Gatewood is visiting the UK for his first ever UK show in October. Pictures that Kill, a 40-year retrospective of Gatewood's extraordinary will be on display at Gallery 32, 32 Charlotte Road, Shoreditch from 3rd  to 24th October.

Gatewood has been documenting American Counter Culture since the mid 60's. His raw striking photography captures the doldrums of the Beat Poets (60's), the chaos of New Orleans Mardi Gras (70's) and the hedonism of New Yorks underground Sex Clubs (70's and 80's) with the eye of the enthusiastic explorer. In recent year Charles has documented the Fetish and body modification communities of America's  West coast.

Gatewood's visit will coincide with the London Fetish weekend. The private view of the show, with interventions inspired by Gatewood's work by performance company Switch, is taking place from on Thurs 2nd October, from 6.30pm at Gallery 32,. The Gallery is conveniently round the corner from The Fetishistas party so get a bit culture in before you down those cocktails!

Gatewood will also be talking about his extraordinary life and times in the company of such counter cultural greats as beat poet William Burroughs and father of the Modern Primitive Movement Fakir Musafar on Saturday 4th October at the London Fetish Weekend Xpo.

Saturday night will see performance company Switch create a playful interactive installation with a BDSM twist at Torture Garden's London Fetish Ball.

Wednesday 8th October, from 7pm is Performances that Kill - an evening for exciting and innovative Live Art and Performance.  Curators Switch will be developing the themes of taboo and identity prevalent in Gatewoods' work. The event is free but places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. For more information about Gatewood events  and to make bookings click here.

Pictures that Kill is the first show for A Rebours (against the grain). An innovative Art Salon for innovative contemporary art in all of its forms. See www.ARebours.co.uk for more information
