"Det Sorte Selskab"
could be translated literally as "The Black Society".
(The Danish language generally uses "black" as a BDSM
metaphor - like the word "leather" is used in the
U.S.)
We are an exclusive, non-profit, members-only BDSM club.
We were established in 1989 and are located in central Copenhagen,
Denmark.
Our webpages are in Danish, but here's an english summary.
Atmosphere
The Black Society has a safe, warm and intimate atmosphere,
where both singles and couples of all BDSM orientations can
meet ... and play ...
Our Society has a lot of activity, both ritual and sexual and
social.
This, of course, necessitates that we select our members carefully.
We hereby create an atmosphere of fun, serious play, sensitivity,
mutual respect... and the excitement that only erotic dominance
can create!
We have our own premises, in a well-equipped 150 m2 cellar.
A large open fireplace and lots of candles enhance the atmosphere.
Our basic rules:
All our members are into BDSM.
We don't place a strong emphasis on experience.
Some members have limited experience when they join, others
have been "in the scene" for years.
But we all consider BDSM to be a basic and integral part of
our erotic make-up.
All members have a strong, fundamental respect towards fellow
members, and to other people in general.
We all have the right to be respected for our individual backgrounds,
fantasies, desires and way of expressing our BDSM inclinations.
No member is obliged to participate in any activity, that
he or she has not freely chosen.
We all place very high value on mutual discretion.
Membership requires signing a statement, pledging mutual discretion.
This discretion pledges members not to disclose any identifying
information about other members, to non-members.
We have equal numbers of male and female members.
Our membership is always comprised of approximately equal numbers
of male and female members, of all orientations.
We have both singles and couples as members (and even a couple
of triads).
All members follow a dress code.
The Black Society is an erotic club - we have a dresscode to
reflect this. The minimum requirement is black clothing.
However, we encourage BDSM-style, leather, lingerie, fetish
......
Our members
- total around 100, with an equal amount of women and men.
- are mostly in the 25 - 45 year range.
- are about 1/2 singles and 1/2 couples.
- most of our couples are open to BDSM activities which include
other members.
- are from all walks of life, with a clear tendency towards
higher educational and occupational levels.
- are into many different aspects of BDSM. Some members prefer
the milder types of BDSM, some are hardcore, some also enjoy
specific fetish-oriented activities.
We have both male and female dominants, male and female sub's,
and quite a few switches.
Our activities.
These reflect the large diversity of our members' interests.
The Society is open appx. 8 evenings per month, mostly Friday
and Saturday evenings.
The evenings range from straightforward open evenings to highly
ritualized events. Anywhere from 8 to 40+ members will show
up - depending on the theme.
The "open evening":
This is the "basic" event, 4-5 times a month.
Apart from the normal rules, there are no rituals or concepts
this evening.
Some members will be there to talk, some to flirt, we often
find some engaged in BDSM activities.
"Theme events"
Where all members are required to follow the concept for the
event. Here are some of these concept-events, which are held
anywhere from once a year to once a month:
FemDom evening
for female Dominants and male subs.
Ritual evening
all attending subs stand trial before 4 judges, are convicted
and punished by the judges or other attending Dominants.
Bondage-evening
members practise the art of Shikeseki - Japanese bondage.
Singles evening
for singles only.
Monthly parties
at the end of each month, a we party with dancing, inspirational
themes and lots of BDSM play.
Membership.
The only way to become a member is by written application.
Anyone can apply - all genders, couples or singles.
Applications must list your full name and address, tell us something
of yourself, your BDSM experiences and your interest in joining
the Society.

We do not answer anonymous applications, or e-mails sent from
a work-place address.
We answer all applications, and invite those who we feel will
fit our membership profile to an introductory evening at the
Society.
At an introductory evening, we present the club, the various
activities and themes, its history, its rules, its members,
etc.
We also ask our guests to give a short presentation about themselves
and their BDSM interests. This evening is only for relaxed talking,
there is no BDSM activity.
You can only become a member by being invited to an introductory
evening and subsequently receiving a written invitation to join
the Society.
We do not have any form of guest membership or exchange agreements
with other clubs.
The membership fee is DKK 200 per person per month
Foreign membership.
We do have members from other countries than Denmark.
These have all been through the above membership application
process.
We require that foreign members are active members. I.e., that
they visit the Society on a regular basis, at least 3 - 4 times
a year.
