Description:
The Fox Den cordially invites you to an Embodied Relating Workshop on Saturday 4 May 2024.

(Note from Foxy: I had the absolute pleasure of taking part in one of Chris's Embodied Relating workshops at a weekend retreat last year and I knew instantly we had to get him to share his wisdom and practice with us. He ran this workshop for us last September and it was super powerful. His work speaks for itself but do check out reviews of his workshops below.)

The workshop will be led by Chris Hardy - a certified coach, yoga instructor and experienced movement practitioner. Chris has been working in the personal development sector for nearly 15 years and has trained with some of the world’s leading experts in the field including Jennifer Garvey Berger (adult development theory), Nita Little (contact improvisation), Anthony Johnston (voice work) and Esther Perel (relational intelligence). Chris’s passion lies in helping people to move through life with more ease and grace.

What is Embodied Relating?

Embodied Relating is a relational intelligence and development practice that works gently with the body to uncover and transform relational patterns, leading to a greater sense of trust and flow. Informed by concepts from somatic researchers such as Bessel van der Kolk (author of The Body Keeps The Score), and drawing on principles from contact improvisation and other movement modalities, embodied relating involves slowing down and working with the relational essence of simple movement practices.

This workshop creates a safe and supportive space for you to bring awareness to your relational patterns and experiment with different ways of being in your body. Through a series of gentle breathing and movement exercises, both solo and in pairs, you’ll be invited and guided to explore and play with new ways of connecting with yourself and others. All exercises are simple, accessible and require no prior experience with movement practices. Together we’ll be embodying and playing with core relational dynamics like leaning (trusting), leading and following. Exercises are interwoven with windows of time for self-attunement, reflection, verbal sharing and witnessing as appropriate.

Benefits of the workshop:

Discover your relational patterns and tune into your inner emotional landscape
Explore and experience new ways of being in your body in connection with others
Feel more relaxed, present, trusting, in flow and at ease in your body
Expand your capacity for natural movement, dance and embodied confidence.
Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is for anybody who’s curious to develop self-awareness about their relational patterns, explore different ways of being in a safe and supportive environment, and feels comfortable engaging in some gentle movement exercises. This workshop is intentionally designed to be inclusive and welcoming to all regardless of relationship status, sexual orientation or gender. Within the workshop introduction there is an orientation to expressing boundaries and honoring personal space.

In the three hours we have together, we will:

Work alone with your breath and body to tune into yourself
Explore gentle paired movement exercises focused on leaning, leading and following
Witness how others receive and respond to your ways of moving and meeting
Use self-reflection and sharing in pairs about patterns and feelings that you notice
Be held in a supportive non-judgemental space and learn as a group.
The workshop is open to max 40 people (non-members welcome) and is hosted at the spacious MoreYoga studio in Cannon Street in central London. After the workshop we will head to a local bar for an early evening drink. 🍺

Location, timings and cost:

MoreYoga, 40 Cannon St, Queen St Pl, London EC4R 1DD.
Arrivals: 1.45pm for a 2pm start.
Close: 5pm. Followed by a drink in a local pub.

Looking forward to sharing this experience with you all.

Reviews of previous Embodied Relating workshops with Chris:

“Thank you and Chris for organising such a wonderful experience yesterday, with a group of beautiful humans :) It was a real eye opener, a little tough in places but super fun, nurturing, healing and enlightening. I have learned more about myself, and how to continue to approach future relationships of all kinds in a more open, conscious and healthy way…and also playfully! Thank you xxx.”

“Just wanted to say thank you for facilitating the course last week! I had no idea what to expect, I had a preconception on what I would feel which was different as to how I actually felt - a very re-affirming experience. Additional, the quality of conversation and the type of people you attract feel very much like I might have found "my tribe" - looking forward where this journey is going to take me. Thank you for all your hard work in creating this community!!”

"Chris held the space with grace, and seemed to channel Elder teachers. He brought a bright energy that carried me past my first reaction which was to run away from a group of people which I had no connection with. I was able to access troubled feelings and movements with gentle support, in a space held with clarity and confidence but without ego."

"Wonderful workshop! Super professional and friendly, in a great location. I feel like what Chris is doing is really important. After years of dancing contact improv I've also felt like there is an untapped gold mine for personal transformation in shining a light more directly on the relational patterns that arise during the dance. Wonderful and needed!"

“A deep, holding and nurturing experience, stepping outside of my comfort zone, finding my edges in a safe place. Feeling profoundly moved by the sensitivity and warmth of the connections I made with other participants."

"The workshop was a safe and playful environment, I felt really comfortable to be vulnerable and be myself. Would highly recomend for anyone looking to explore embodiment and relational healing on a somatic level."

"I don’t really know how to express in words, such a rich experience that one can go through in a very well held space by Chris. The dynamic that happened with each one was absolute craaazy! Like right there, near the cliffs. I couldn’t really believe I did it and enjoyed it so much. I look forward for the next adventure! Thank you."

“Just wanted to say thank you so much for yesterday. I met some lovely humans and I had fun with them.”
