What about when it’s not “fun” ? What about when it does not feel “good” ? Is it ok for a Top to inflict pain purely for their own pleasure? If a bottom accepts this are they abused and in need of an intervention? Is training just about teaching or can it be about remaking and forging the person into what you want them to be? Can “this is for your own good” be an acceptable reason? In this workshop we explore the darker side of S/M and D/s that does not fit the rhetoric generated for the vanilla world. Where safe, sane and consensual are not a creed but instead one way of looking at things. Where punishment is not funishment, where tears shed are not always from happiness or release and where safewords are optional.
Please note this workshop includes exploration of divisive, controversial and challenging topics which may make some individuals uncomfortable. The organisers wish to faciliate the discussion of such, however accept no responsibility for any upset caused. This workshop is therefore recommended for those seriously engaging in the BDSM lifestyle and relationships and with a good understanding and experience of them. We expect a mixture of single individuals and couples / triads wishing to explore and expand their dynamics.
Although challenging in its subject matter, the event will be very safe, in a public coffee house environment, with a small group gathered around a kitchen table for the sharing of stories and learning. Both the organisers and the venue staff are well known for providing safe, quality spaces.
PROGRAMME
6 pm: Dinner
We start with delicious food, served with humour and heart. Choose from a selection of starters and mains, incl. vegetarian options in a custom menu, prepared specially for this evening (please let us know any dietary requirments when booking). If you wish to enjoy wine with your dinner, feel free to bring a bottle.
8 pm: Workshop set-up
The venue is cleared of any other guests, leaving it for the exclusive use of workshop participants. Drinks and desserts are served to be enjoyed during the workshop.
8.30pm - 10pm: Workshop
10pm - 11pm: Socialising
Discuss what you have learned and enjoy meeting others.

Coming to join us from Vancouver, Canada, she has been involved in kink for almost 25 years and facilitated D/s, M/s and BDSM workshops in Canada and in the US since 2005 including KinkFest (Portland, Oregon), Southwest Leather (Phoenix, Arizona), Beyond Leather (Fort Lauderdale, Florida), South Plains Leather Fest (Dallas, Texas) and Dark Odyssey – Surrender (San Francisco, California).
Trained as an actor, River Dark is well at home teaching how to craft and create scenes, characters and self expression.
