About
Fred_Rx began tying several years ago, when he discovered he didn’t have enough hands to restrain and hurt people with. He started out using whatever combination of Eastern and Western ties seemed most effective, but quickly learned that rope could be used for play and torture in its own right. This discovery led him to seek out teachers and workshops around the States, and eventually abroad, where he focused on learning as many styles and techniques as he could find. He developed a strong technical base of skills, while also incorporating his prior knowledge of the body to maximise pain and manipulation. Although he recognises the beauty and artistry of rope and shibari, he prefers to use rigging as another tool in his arsenal, along with his hands, body, and mind.
Program
Day 1- All Levels 'No shirt, no hard point, no problem'
We'll use the first day to explore ways to play using rope as a tool. We'll learn how to restrain and expose your partner, maximising sensation while minimising risk. We'll cover a basic chest harness and futumomos, and focus on developing organic and dynamic floorwork. The class will emphasise interpersonal connection and engagement, although we'll also consider fluid and efficient rope handling. We'll discuss the limits of rope, but also discover the possibilities and opportunities.
Day 2- Intermediate 'Munstrous Torture'
The second day, we'll move into a more detailed study of using rope for pain and torture. Partial suspensions will be incorporated, and we'll learn a variation of the hojo-hishi TK. Fred will demonstrate patterns and his use of 'Semenawa', but each student will have the chance to start developing their own personal style of rope play. We'll think about using rope to distribute pressure and sensation, along with manipulating pressure points, body weight, and incorporating contortion and torque. We'll discuss line management and rope handling, but the focus will be on exposing your partner and building vulnerability while inflicting suffering.
